Graduate students
Five students are currently enrolled in the Basque Studies Tutorial Ph.D. program.



Juan Arana
Juan Arana is a philosophy student whose research concerns Basque art and aesthetics. Arana has completed studies at the University of Madrid in philosophy, and also has worked in the teaching field. He worked on the Basque Library database project during his first year at UNR.

Argitxu Camus
Argitxu Camus has a Master’s degree from the University of Pau (France), and plans to research Basque immigration and the Euskal Etxeak (Basque Clubs) of the diaspora. She is a Research Assistant at the Center and began her studies in fall 2004.

Magda Czajkowska-Vazquez
Magda is from Poland. Her dissertation will deal with Basque mythology. She has a Master’s degree in Spanish philology, with a thesis on Basque oral literature.

Nancy Faires
Nancy enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Fall of 1999. She has a Master’s degree in Spanish literature and linguistics from Rice University. Her dissertation topic is the city of Bilbao and the Guggenheim Museum.

Beatriz Robinson
Beatriz started on her Ph.D. in 2002 with a multidisciplinary program including Basque studies, history, and literature. Her subject of study is Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. Beatriz has two Master’s degrees from UNR, a Master of Music and a Master of Arts. She is currently a lecturer in the Foreign Languages and Literatures Department, teaching beginning and intermediate Spanish, and will research her dissertation in Mexico.
