Basque Publications

We are frequently asked to supply information on the availability of Basque publications. The best retail dealer in books concerning the Basques (written almost exclusively in Spanish, French, and Basque) is:

Librería Manterola
Manterola, 12
San Sebastián, Guipúzcoa
Spain

Librería Manterola publishes a catalogue of several hundred titles. This catalogue may be obtained by writing to them.

Of particular interest to many persons is the availability of Basque grammars. Again, Librería Manterola sells many different Basque language methods. There is one Basque grammar (Vizcayan dialect) written for English-speaking persons. It was prepared by Mr. Joe Eiguren and includes a phonograph record as an aide for practicing pronunciation. The method may be purchased by writing:

Mr. Joe Eiguren
Route 3
Meridian, Idaho

Another outlet for Basque books is the Editorial Ekin of Buenos Aires, Argentina. They began publishing Basque books in 1942 and now offer approximately seventy titles dealing with Basque history, folklore, geography, literature, politics, etc. They also sell a Basque grammar. These publications are quite inexpensive and all are written in Spanish. A list may be obtained by writing:

Editorial Ekin
Belgrano 1144
Capital Federal, Argentina
