From the Editor During the past six months there were major developments with respect to the activities of the Basque Studies Program. After many efforts to join forces with European institutions to co-sponsor a summer Basque Language Workshop, we decided to cancel the program. We were unable to finalize planning in time to ensure that it would have been a success. We have now decided to offer a Basque Studies Summer Session Abroad every third year. The next one is scheduled for the summer of 1978. We also announce, regretfully, that the Basque-English dictionary project has been cancelled. Our efforts to bring the noted linguist Professor Luis Michelena of the University of Salamanca to Nevada for the project have failed. Professor Michelena was unable to make the trip due both to health reasons and difficulty in obtaining the necessary leave of absence from his teaching position. We hope that at some time in the future we can resuscitate the dictionary project.
