University Studies Abroad in the 1987-1988 Academic Year

Have you considered living, traveling and studying in Europe? The University Studies in the Basque Country Consortium is a joint effort by three US and two European universities to provide American students with a variety of choices. Next summer there will be a six-week program in the Basque Country where students of all ages and backgrounds may take courses in the unique Basque language and culture for academic credit or simply for personal enrichment. Regular university students can opt for a semester or year-long course of study at the San Sebastián campus of the University of Pau. Depending upon their interests, students can focus upon Basque, Hispanic or French studies. In the San Sebastián program there will be the opportunity to learn the Basque language. It is also possible for the student to fulfill his/her two-year foreign language requirement by pursuing an intensive, four-hour daily, semester-long Spanish language course of study. The student’s stay will be enriched by courses and lectures in aspects of Basque, Spanish and French history and culture and excursions and field trips to points of interest. There will also be ample opportunity for independent travel to other parts of Europe.

The summer program will be held from June 21 to August 1, 1987. The San Sebastián program begins September 1,1987 and includes a fall and spring semester course of study (students may choose to participate in one or both). The Pau program begins in mid-September and includes a fall, winter and spring quarter. For further information on any of these study tours, contact:
