Dolores Saval Trigero Scholarship

Thanks to the generosity of the Dolores Trigero family, a scholarship has been established in memory of Dolores Saval Trigero, the daughter of immigrants from the Basque Country in Spain. Born and raised in Nevada, Dolores Trigero displayed a strong interest in her Basque heritage and was a strong advocate of the personal, social and cultural benefits of a college education.

The Dolores Saval Trigero Scholarship will be awarded to a student of Basque descent who is full-time at the University of Nevada. The student must demonstrate financial need and have a minimum GPA of 2.75. Preference will be given to students from rural Nevada (excluding Reno/Sparks and Las Vegas). However, if no suitable rural Nevada student of Basque descent is eligible, students of Basque descent from Reno/Sparks and Las Vegas may be awarded the scholarship, and if no Basque students are eligible, other Nevada students will be considered for the award without regard to ethnicity. (The amount of the scholarship for 1995-96) was not available at press time.)

Applicants should send a letter (addressing the points mentioned above) and official transcripts to:

Linda White, Assistant Coordinator
Basque Studies Program/322
University of Nevada, Reno
Reno, NV 89557-0012
FAX: (702) 784-1355

We must receive your application by March 31, 1995 for it to be eligible.
