Liburutegitik · From the Basque Library

The Basque Studies Library is very pleased to announce the addition of more help with library services. Juan Ibarguren, a native of Zarautz, Gipuzkoa, recently joined the library staff as a Library Assistant III. Juan, who has a degree in history from the State University of New York and graduate work in history at the University of Nevada, Reno, aids in providing quality reference work and is cleaning up the serials collection at the Basque Library. He also brings strong organizational skills as well as contributing a wealth of information about Basque culture and history and is a native speaker of euskara, the Basque language. Previously, Juan was a student assistant with the Basque Cataloging Project at UNR where he gained most of his library training. We are very excited to have Mr. Ibarguren as a member of the Basque Studies staff.

Beginning this September, the Basque Studies Library will be open on Saturdays from 1:00-5:00 p.m. in order to provide greater assistance to the university and local Basque communities. A few new noteworthy titles at the Basque Studies Library are:

Eusko Jaurlaritza. Euskadi, A Social and Economic Guide. Vitoria-Gasteiz: Servicio Central de Publicaciones del Gobierno Vasco, 1994.

Exposición: La masonería por Euskal Herria, 1728-1939. Vitoria-Gasteiz: Caja de Ahorros de Vitoria y Alava, 1990.

King, Alan R. and Begotxu Olaizola Elordi. Colloquial Basque: A Complete Language Course. New York: Routledge, 1996.

Perkins, Clara Salaverria. Recipes from Basque Restaurants of the West. Woodland (Calif.): C. Perkins, 1995.

Wieland, Terry. Spanish Best: The Fine Shotguns of Spain. New Albany (Ohio): Countrysport Press, 1994.
