Teresa Laxalt Memorial
Scholarship
We are pleased to announce Esteban Rey as the
winner of the 1997-98 Teresa Laxalt Memorial Scholarship. He
will receive $1000 to help defray the costs of his
education. Mr. Rey is a resident of Gardnerville, Nevada and
is a Freshman at the University of Nevada, Reno. His goal is
to become an elementary school teacher. Congratulations,
Esteban!

Dolores Saval Trigero
Scholarship
The 1997-98 recipient of this award for students of
Basque descent from rural Nevada is Heather Barrett. She
will receive $500 to help pay for her education at the
University of Nevada, Reno, where she is a freshman this
fall. Ms. Barrett was a member of the Basque Club in
Gardnerville, and she plans to major in Biology, but she
also hopes to study Euskara while at UNR. Congratulations,
Heather!
