Consortium for the Study of Basque
Women
Join the CSBW!
The Consortium for the Study of Basque Women (CSBW)
was started in February 1997, as a way for scholars and lay
individuals all over the world to share information
regarding the many contributions that Basque women have made
and continue to make in diverse areas. These areas include
literature, the arts, history, anthropology, law, political
science, and linguistics, to name but a
few.
The CSBW is part of the Basque Studies Program at The
University of Nevada, Reno, and was founded by three
scholars, Dr. Linda White, Assistant Director of the Basque
Studies Program at UNR, Dr. Jerónima Echeverria,
Associate Dean of the School of Social Sciences at
California State University, Fresno, and Dr. Teresa del
Valle, Professor of Anthropology at the Universidad del
País Vasco in San Sebastián, Spain. The
organization is currently seeking funding to produce an
anthology of essays in honor of Basque women, and a larger
web page and newsletter.
We invite you to become a member of this growing
organization and participate in discussions on-line through
our group e-mail account, attend special events, and learn
more about the history of Basque women and their
accomplishments in today’s world and throughout
history. As a member, you will receive the CSBW Newsletter
as well as information about special
events.
