University Studies in the Basque
Country
The University Studies Abroad Consortium is
accepting applications for its 2000 spring, summer, and fall
programs as well as the 2001 spring semester. Students from
more than 500 U.S. universities have participated in these
accredited academic programs. Enrollment continues to grow
and the number of participants is limited, so get your
application in early.
SEMESTER AND YEARLONG PROGRAMS:
Bilbao and San Sebastián, Spain Programs
Dates: January 9-May 16, 2000
August 9-December 15, 2000
Subjects: Intensive Spanish language, Basque language,
history, literature, anthropology, economics, Basque
cuisine, folkdance, art history, political science, teacher
education.
Field Trips: Madrid, Basque Country
Lodging: In apartments or homestays.
Pau, France Program
Dates: January 2-April 27, 2000
September 2-December 19, 2000
Subjects: Intensive French language, French and Basque
culture, art history, French literature, contemporary French
society, French cinema, French cuisine, political science,
teacher education.
Field Trips: Paris, Basque Country
Lodging: In homestays, apartments or residence halls.
SUMMER PROGRAMS:
The four-, eight-, and twelve-week summer studies programs
are ideal for students, teachers, and others unable to
participate in semester-long programs.
Summer Donostia/San Sebastián Program
Dates: June Session: May 31-July 3, 2000
July Session: June 29-July 31, 2000
August Session: July 31-Aug. 29, 2000
Subjects: Intensive Spanish language (four levels) and
literature, elementary Basque language, culture and
history.
Field Trips: Madrid, Basque Country
Lodging: In apartments.
Summer Pau and Bayonne, France Program
Dates: June Session (Pau): May 25-June 30, 2000
July Session (Pau): June 29-July 28, 2000
August Session (Bayonne): July 29-August 28, 2000
Subjects: Intensive French language (four levels) and
literature, Basque and French culture, and Basque and French
history.
Lodging: In homestays or residence halls.
Fees include tuition and fees, room, local field
trips in France and Spain, student health insurance,
International Student I.D. Card, and admission fee to member
university.
The USAC also organizes programs in Australia,
Chile, China, Costa Rica, Denmark, England, Germany,
Ireland, Israel, Italy, Malta, New Zealand, Scotland, and
Thailand.
