Position To Be Opened This Fall

The University of Nevada, Reno, will soon open a tenure track position at the Assistant or recently promoted Associate Professor level in the Center for Basque Studies. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline within the humanities in social science (preferred disciplines include cultural studies, women studies, anthropology, diaspora studies, art language and literature, linguistics, history, political science and sociology). Applicants must have a demonstrated record of scholarship, including formulating, conducting and publishing original research regarding Basque society and culture. Experience with online technologies and website work is highly desirable. Fluency in Spanish is required, and additional fluency in Basque and French is preferred. A demonstrated ability in preparing successful grant proposals is needed. Fund raising experience is also desirable.

Responsibilities include framing, conducting, completing and publishing the results of original Basque related research; teaching undergraduate and graduate level Basque Studies courses in the indicated academic field of the candidate’s specialization; developing and teaching online courses; also may be requested to teach periodically in studies-abroad courses in the Basque Country.
