A scholarship is available each academic year for students to attend the University of Nevada, Reno. Applicants must register as full-time students at the University, and must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75. The scholarship offers a minimum award of $500 ($250 per semester) up to around $1,000. Applications are available on this site, and from high school scholarship offices within the state of Nevada.
In 1995, a scholarship was established in memory of Dolores Saval Trigero, the daughter of immigrants from the Basque Country in Spain. Born and raised in Nevada, Dolores Trigero displayed a strong interest in her Basque heritage and was a strong advocate of the personal, social, and cultural benefits of a college education. The Dolores Saval Trigero Scholarship is awarded to a Nevada resident of Basque descent, preferably from a rural area of the state.
This scholarship is established as a memorial fund, and we thank the Trigero family for their generosity and thoughtfulness in designating these funds for the benefit of Basque-American students. Eskerrik asko!
