Peter Echeverria

Peter Echeverria was born
on June 29, 1918 in Shoshone, Idaho, to Marie Sarrasqueta and John
Echeverria. His mother
came to this country from Apotomonasterio, and his father from
Lekeitio, Bizkaia. The
family moved to Ely, Nevada, when Peter was seven years old.
Peter had a distinguished thirty-year legal career in Nevada, and
served as a national president of the American Board of Trial
Advocates. He was a founding member of the Nevada Trial Lawyers
Association and received the Lifetime Achievement Award in June
1999, recognizing his career as one of the finest trial lawyers in
the country. He also served in the Nevada Senate and on the Nevada
Gaming Commission.
Mr. Echeverria was proud of his Basque heritage, and was on the
organizing committee of the first national Basque festival held in
Sparks, Nevada in 1959.
